I think it's great that a former 2 star made defensive POY. Sort of a Cinderella story.
However, if we are looking for future defensive POY's, I believe they are more likely to come from the ranks of the 4-5 stars than they are from the 2-3 stars.
Recruiting is based on probabilities. Like most things in life, there are few if any can't misses.
