Well, fine. I hate to gratuitously pick on David Lombardi but:
But the offense in 2013 was better than in 2012 or 2014. Theories that the tight end occupies some special, irreplaceable role in the Stanford offense don't survive contact with reality. Obviously it's better to have good tight ends; it would've been better to have good, rather than sub-replacement-level tight ends, in 2013. Nevertheless the lack of good tight ends did not stop the 2013 Stanford offense from enjoying its best post-Luck year.
