Stealing a line from the USMNT, but I'm cautiously optimistic for several reasons.
(1) USC may be overrated. They haven't played anyone worth noting this year, they were pretty good, but not amazing, last year, and they lost their three best players to the NFL.
(2) Despite our offensive woes last year, we moved the ball well against them and just couldn't get in the end-zone. It's not like our scheme was ineffective, and they had a lot of trouble against our D.
(3) We've shown signs of explosiveness on offense that simply were absent at this point in the year last year.
The big differenc emakers for me are if our D-line will be able to hold up at the end of the game against their run game, and if we can avoid shooting ourself in the foot with stupid penalties.
