As the momentum in the bay area was turning, many Ca'l fans held up their recent dominance of Stanford as a sign of their program strength. I would regularly point out that a 6-0 record (or whatever it was) against Harris/Teevens shouldn't be a point of pride for any program, but you have to hold onto something. The same thing goes for Duck fans. Whenever "Oregon's Stanford problem" would be discussed, Duck fans would comment about their record against Stanford since 2000 and pretend like that's the relevant comparison.
That Ca'l fan discussion of what made Harbaugh so successful was actually refreshing for me to read. Many of the fans have moved on from "easy admissions and steroids" to admitting that Harbaugh and Stanford offered a unique opportunity and brought out the best in the recruited players. Those fans seemed to have evolved.
