A dean at Claremont McKenna just resigned in response to protests as well.  Students were upset because of an e-mail message that she sent to a student in response to an opinion article the student wrote.

I readily acknowledge that the e-mail wasn't artfully worded, but it did sound like it was coming from the right place.  IMHO, a hunger strike and the resignation of a high-level administrator seem like a very big over-reaction.
