Moving to Missouri is probably, at best, a lateral move. Whittingham would move to a bigger stage with a better chance to excel. Missouri is middling on a good day and trending down. Then there's the, ummm, recent unpleasantness. Whittingham needs that like a jab in the eye with a sharp stick. For whatever reason that is a sub-optimal situation.
The counter-argument is that chances to coach in a winning program in the big five conferences don't come along every day, but I don't think he needs to take that particular ticket out of Salt Lake City.
