There is clearly an east coast bias and all of our late start games have given CMac minimal exposure to the east coast yahoos.Â
We did very little for Toby and Andrew and it doesn't seem like we learned much from that process. Times have clearly changed, but what can be done to make the case for CMac?  I'm of the mind that we should already have 3 trophies in the Trophy room. This kid deserves more accolades and the marketing prowess that can be put forward.
Well, I'm not sure I'd use the Plunkett campaign as a model for a modern day effort - the enthusiasm yes, the strategy, not so much.Â
The Stanford AD at the time was the inimitable Bob Murphy who later became Stanford's radio announcer. You may remember Murphy from his NCAA tournament/Madsen "AND he was FOULED" call among many others. According to legend Murphy's budget for Plunkett's campaign was all of $350 and ran mostly on enthusiasm and Murphy's mouth. Here's a nice retrospective on Murphy from his induction into the Bay Area sports hall of fame.
