BobK, thank you for your response but it doesn't seem to address my question. If I understand you correctly, you're explaining that we don't do a round-robin so we can play more out-of-conference opponents. I agree that in both WBB & WVB, we play only one game against one pair of schools (at least this year, the pair (LA schools in the case of Stanford) are the same for both WBB & WVB).Â
The question is not the number of in-conference games, but how they are scheduled. In WBB, we wind up playing our rival twice in a week, while taking a single trip to LA. In WVB, we play the rival twice, in different weeks, but do take an extra trip to LA.
If anything, I'd think that WBB would have deeper pockets and could better afford the extra trip. My question is, why the difference and what is the thinking that schedules both games against a rival to be in the same week?
