why can't they bring back Keith Jackson and his "350 pound soph-O-more" line?!    I loved that guy and he had some Stanford ties as well.  His son Chris was an undergrad with us in the 80's - great guy!  I thought Keith may have lived near Pasadena?

Yes, Keith Jackson was a standup individual when it came to Stanford.  Why do I say that?  Before Big Game 1999, Stanford was on the verge of clinching the outright conference championship and its first Rose Bowl berth in 27 years.  Back then, ABC had rights to a game of the week with the Pac-10.  But did ABC opt to televise the Big Game, with its relevance?  No, they went for the larger market, and chose USC-UCLA, despite both teams having identical 4-6 records.  Keith Jackson was ABC's play by play announcer, and he did indeed live in Southern California.  But he refused to do the broadcast out of principle.
