It's kind of funny to describe the band as a bunch of hipsters considering they've essentially done the same thing for 20+ years (maybe longer but I don't have personal experience) and the idea of a "hipster" is a fairly recent development.

20+ years ??  Try 40+ !!  ;D  The LSJUMB has been scandalizing college football since at least the 1972 Rose Bowl, when they spelled out "SMUT" [Stanford Marching Unit Thinkers] on national TV.  And, IIRC, in the 1971 Rose Bowl [or might have been 1972], they dropped trou during the show to reveal that everyone was wearing surfer shorts. 

And, of course, any OF will tell you that most of the really good charts still being played ["Yellow Riverrrrrrr"] are more than 20 years old.

"Hipster"?  Hardly.
