If you don't like going from page to page through a 14 page thread, you can set your preferences so that you will see more messages on each page, which reduces the number of pages. The default is 15 messages per page. I've chosen 50 messages per page, which is the maximum. So for me, this thread is 5 pages long, not 14 pages.

Go to Profile, then Modify Profile, then Look and Layout, then select your preference.
