Most of Sunday's episode of The Good Wife was set in Iowa, where the characters were involved in the caususes. Practically the whole story revolved around the of Iowa voters. (Not liking loose-meat sandwiches = not qualified to be president.) It was amusing.
I try to get my impressions of the world from observations of reality. Having not ever seen "The Good Wife", however, perhaps it is an excellent substitute.

You are quite thin-skinned about this Iowa stuff.

Probably so. Good-natured teasing is one thing. Citing the "stupidity, shallowness and egocentricity" of an entire population is mean-spirited. Ellen DeGeneres says it pretty well, "If you're just kidding, why don't we both find it funny?"
"It's not what you don't know that gets you in trouble. It's what you think you know that just isn't so."
Mark Twain
