This year I'd like to read Wonder by R.J. Palacio, an achingly beautiful book that you should read yourself if you haven't already. It's a story that will do more than teach my students the joy of reading, it will teach them empathy, tolerance, and compassion, qualities which are sometimes lacking in the middle school student.
