I have to admit, that I'm biased against Cam because of Andrew's loss (theft) as college's best player. My mind links Andrew and Cam together as a yin/yang sort of thing.Â
I've watched the last two Carolina games and, even given his excellent supporting cast (i.e. O-line), he seems to make consistently good, intelligent decisions on the field. And he has the physicality and athleticism to complete the decision.
Then, there is the big disconnect in post-game interviews, where he can't seem to utter a complete sentence, wears a stupid towel on his head, doesn't look the interviewer in the eye or even face the camera and, frankly, doesn't seem to be the sharpest nail in the toolbox.Â
So, I can't figure the guy out. He is in the right place at the right time and, hopefully, has the off-field maturity to not mess up his moment. I'm predicting he somehow will. And, while he seems to be the leader of the team, hard to explain the pre-season fight--something that just doesn't happen to QB's.Â
And I feel bad for Andrew...in Indy with a front office that just doesn't get get it. When you have the player of the next decade, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to opt for sacrificing a season or two by forgoing defensive assets to build your O-line (maybe Indy needs to hire a rocket scientist to point this out).Â
I'm worried that Andrew may never fully recover from a potentially life-threatening injury (renal laceration) or career-altering injury (right shoulder). Or the untold effects of accumulated brutal hits over the last four years.
If I were Andrew (and his values would never allow him to do this), I'd sit a year until the Indy front office figures it out and takes some action. I get pissed thinking about this.Â
