Winston could have been a much better person at Stanford than he was at FSU.  I hope that would have been the case, but we will never know.

I agree with this.  I think the culture of our program is drastically different from that at FSU.  Some of his baser impulses might have been channeled a little more appropriately at Stanford, whereas he was akin to a god in Tallahassee.  And yes, we'll never know, but I think the environment at Stanford would have helped produce a different outcome for him, from a behavioral and maturity standpoint.
