Ah, I thought the offending beans in question were of the sort that one might use in Mexican food.

Beans are a large, diverse group, from the playful Mexican jumping beans to the detestable Lima bean, soured by their existence on the industrial steppes of northeastern Ohio, hovering in the sinister shadows of Iowa, a mere 400 miles away. We should resist the impulse to stereotype beans as a monolithic menace to our way of life. They are really disparate and divergent menaces to our way of life and must be treated with respect in addition to our natural fear and loathing.

Going full circle on the case for beans (retried or not), I give you this nugget about the lowly fava bean and it's 15 minutes of fame (or infamy) in "Silence of the Lamb."    It seems to fit in well with thread drift...  As for me, I'll stick with a fine chianti!  -Cheers!
