Pretty much exactly like that. One thing I forgot to mention, the lightning was accompanied by a couple of short violent downpours. When the game was called it was really coming down. Teams went to the locker rooms, the fans mostly retreated to their cars, and the officials huddled under the new bleachers on the other side of the field.
After about 30 minutes, the subs came back out, then the starters, and both teams seemed to go through an abbreviated version of their full game warmup. Then they played about 1:10 of time and took a normal halftime.
I forgot, the men's first win of the season, 3-1, came against #15 Kentucky on the same field in the early afternoon. Wasn't able to watch it, but it supposedly ran long as well. Which explains why Santa Clara-Irvine ran so late.
