It's a pretty hedged prediction. The placement in the article implies he thinks Collins is the number-one choice, but the actual language stops well short of it.
"Don't be surprised" isn't exactly "will probably happen"; it's something that's a realistic possibility.
Sources expect -- what sources? Are they in the athletic department? Boosters? Who?
"Pursue" -- what does that mean? Interview with? Negotiate with?
Anyway, not to play too much of the word games here, but it's a bit of a frustrating article to read journalistically: I have little idea what Wilner actually thinks is likely or not.
Collins strikes me as having too little experience; I'd prefer a good head coach to him. But he doesn't strike me as an outright bad choice. My big qualm is... would he drop out of the Warriors to coach at Stanford? Try juggling both? Logistically it seems difficult.
