Interesting list and very high level; could be pure speculation or just a wish list on Wilner's part. Some of these really do see like lateral moves, even considering Stanford potentially a perennial tournament team, which is all anyone can expect at any school.
Russell Turner (UC Irvine)
Obviously a move up the ladder to a familiar P5 California based team. Someone on another site has reservations about his recruiting ethics and how he is perceived in basketball circles, including high school coaches. OK that's one voice.
Mike Brey (from UDFG)
Sustained success in the ACC; paid well; apparently happy with his school and his school is apparently happy with him. Would come for a dump truck sized pile of cash maybe? Seems far-fetched.
Randy Bennett (St. Mary's)
Move up the power ladder to a close school. Frankly seems made for Berkeley. St. Mary's is cute. Second best coach in the WCC. Stanford should hold out for the best WCC coach. Gonzaga isn't cute.
Tom Crean (Indiana)
Rumblings people at IU aren't completely enamored with him despite sporadic success, like this year's run. Seems far-fetched, but maybe he's pissed enough at the Hoosiers to move for spite. Probably takes big dollars.
Jay Wright (Villanova)
A lot like Crean. They sure look good so far in the tourney. He's been there awhile and done OK; not like Monty's second half here though.
Tony Bennett (Virginia)
See Brey, Mike. I think UVA is the new Stanford. Great regular seasons; trouble against teams with play makers that go off. A tournament ceiling unless the match-ups break right. Great coach though. Worked miracles with Wazzou and the Hoos.
P.S. Bennett does have a violation under his belt. Was suspended for a number of games over recruiting. I'm not that excited about him honestly.
Given the radio silence this is going spectacularly well or is a crash and burn. Hmmm, what is the middle ground?

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working .I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work. Peter Gibbons
