I guess I don't really understand the basis for us outsiders second-guessing his decisions at this point when we know absolutely nothing about why he made them. Haase has been around the game for a while and I would assume that he knows what he is doing and wants in terms of assistants. He is assembling a staff, not a collection of individuals. I can't imagine a reason why he would prefer not to hire someone with Stanford experience, given its obvious advantages. But probably more important in his eyes is other aspects of each individual: who he feels comfortable working with (they spend a lot of time together), who brings skills and attributes that are complementary to himself and the rest of his staff, who will add things to the team that the previous staff did not, etc.
