Preseason polls are just a lot of guessing. I've always been a proponent of no polls till the midpoint of the season. That way you don't have a bunch of teams getting inflated reputations because they beat someone ranked high in the first or second game. Especially when that high ranked team goes on to be very mediocre throughout the season.
