Both Wilner and FitzGerald think Stanford was missing Bryce Love, which seems ... unlikely to me? I'd take him, obviously, but it didn't seem like the source of the problem to me.

Eh, it could be. Why do we think this game was so bad? We punted four times? That's not all that bad, and it's easy to see Love giving us options on one of those. Scarlett seemed either bad or poorly used, and Wildcat without a sweep is just dumb. Maybe love helps one of those things.

I don't think Scarlett was a problem, every time he had the ball there was a gang of defenders right in frontof him. He didn't make anything magical happen but it wasn't like he was missing open holes either a la rector on the reverse.
As mentioned above, more concerning was the o line play and not staying on blocks. C Mac had an uncanny ability to use blockers to shield himself even when that lineman didn't make a textbook block on the defender, but repeatedly tonight he was up against wide open unblocked defenders. Part of that appeared to be aggression on the part of K states safeties, which we need to punish them for. Burns looked great, made some real strikes down the middle and on tough cross field out patterns. High hopes for him.
