I often take a quick look at the site, and read a few postings, without logging in.  If that's uncool, or if the site benefits from having me log in every time, I will make it a point to do so.

Well, you know, the site is giving up a lot of advertising revenue when people don't log in... not.

TBH, the biggest reason to log in is so that you can keep track of unread posts.  By the way, if you are on a private machine, you can keep yourself logged in so you don't have to worry about having to log in every time.
