Much of that is the architecture. The aluminum upper stadium helped increase the noise a bit over the old earth stadium, but concrete or steel would be better than thin aluminum at reflecting the sound, and the lower portion sunk into the earth just deadens noise all the more. Remember they actually dug the field six feet deeper when they built the new stadium, so they increased its sound deadening properties. Perhaps our fans are not as loud, but there is little that can be done about the deadening effect of the stadium. A cantilevered roof like Husky stadium might help increase the noise--maybe some of the engineers on the Cardboard can suggest other ideas.
