I don't know if international basketball players forgo college development in the USA at the same rate that they do in tennis--and yes, it's substantial. A lot of tennis players hit the pro circuit right out of high school, but I'm not certain that the same is true for basketball players.
In any case, I sat in on a Dick Gould talk where, yep, he mentioned the prevalence of international athletes changing the landscape of college tennis. Guess how many of them want to go through the Stanford admissions wringer?
