This line of reasoning has been mentioned in a few of the UCB Pac-12 AfterDark games now, so I believe the idea is coming directly from Dykes and his staff.
Dykes has a bit of a problem beating the better Pac-12 teams each season. So either
#1 he is not a good coach
#2 he is not a good recruiter or
#3 the school's academic requirements are impacting his program.Â
#1 and #2 impact his odds of keeping his job and finding a new job later. #3 is a ready made excuse that allows him to keep losing AND will enable him to get another job by blaming UCB for his failures at UCB.Â
