How come Greg Roman's name is never mentioned for any college HC vacancies? I understand it's been reported in this thread or another that he's never coming back to Stanford while Shaw is HC.
Well, it is at least possible there is a reason for such things.
I believe that Roman is currently unemployed, which isn't generally a highlight on a resume to be a head coach somewhere. However, before that he was supposedly the highest paid NFL assistant, so he clearly had some cache.
Perhaps more relevant, my understanding is that Roman is known as an NFL guy and not a college guy. I believe that the only time he spent coaching in college was his two years with Stanford.

Roman was Stanford's OL and TE coach in 2009 and 2010. When Harbaugh left for SF, he was named offensive coordinator. In four years as SF's OC, Roman was 11th, 11th, 11th and 25th in the NFL in points scored. In two years at Buffalo, he was 12th and 8th in the NFL in points scored on offense. In two years with Stanford, the team ranked #11 then #9 in the NCAA in ppg.
So he is probably not terrible. He may not get along with Shaw, but he can coach.
