One thing to keep in mind is that, IIRC, the committee doesn't look at those rankings, all they see is record against teams with a winning record. Sure, there's also gut feel and knowing the teams, but as pointed out above UW's slate isn't significantly different from Alabama's, when you consider that it appeared to be down years for the Pac and SEC.
