Herbstreit may be right about weak OOC, but isn't the real issue SOS, regardless of who you play OOC?  By that measure, UW's SOS is #55 and PSU is #40.  But Michigan's is only #54.

When you look at the resumes of UW, PSU, and Michigan, they are so damn close.  Strong arguments can be made for all three at the #4 spot, so it will be difficult to argue with any choice.  The one worry for Washington is that its best wins aren't nearly as impressive as Michigan and PSU have, and Washington didn't play a team as good as Michigan or Ohio State, which if they did, might have given them a second loss that probably wouldn't even have them in the discussion for #4 right now.
