Oregon is a coaching trap, and Taggart walked into it. He will win some games at a place that has outsized expectations relative to their pecking order on the West Coast.
Sure they have Uncle Phil's money, but I think they have a recruiting ceiling. The previous regime worked around it with a system that used track athletes. That system could not get them past talented and well coached teams that they face in major bowl games.
My prediction is that Taggart will deliver better results than Helfrich but not better than Kelly.
Our problem is Chris Petersen and the Huskies. I can see him staying there until he retires. We need to upgrade offensive coaching otherwise we will keep bringing knifes to a gun fight.
