On the BYU show, it was funny to me that the band got in trouble for making a joke that a prominent Mormon politician, later candidate for president, had made as well.

I was under the impression that said candidate lifted it from the LSJUMB (though not quite sure where I got that idea). Of course it is a joke that many have made.

I also second rudruff's point.  Getting beaten badly C(and frequently) can ill-dispose fans toward an opponent's band.

I think Spiny's point might be more relevant. Our Iowa friends were booing the band well before their team got crushed.
