Troy Walters suffered a pretty serious wrist injury while practicing for the 2000 Rose Bowl. Wouldn't want something like that to derail Cmac's pro career. (and yes, Troy did play after doctors decided that he couldn't injure the wrist any worse. And yes, he did make that diving catch that was a big lift to the team and the crowd, and it was absolutely heroic of him. But he was largely a decoy during the game, and it's a reminder of how injuries are always a possibility).
Bummer about Cmac, but all the best to him, and I'm going to enjoy watching Love running circles around UNC.
Using this logic, no player who expects to go high in the draft should participate in a bowl game (or maybe even in the last few games of the season) out of fear of injury.
It will be unfortunate if college football comes to this. Perhaps it is on its way.
