Not a surprise, and a good choice. I guess the next question is does Turbisky play, as he is a top NFL prospect, I think Mel Kiper's #1 QB at this time?
The bowl games are EXHIBITIONS. Nothing makes that more clear than when star players sit them out to prepare for the NFL draft. Would Fournette and McCaffrey sit out if their teams were in the playoffs? Maybe, but the odds would be lower, and that would give the games more credibility.
The NCAA would be wise to allow True Frosh to play in bowl games without losing a year of eligibility, IMO. I mean how nice would it be to see Trevor Speights get some run in the Sun Bowl? Let's say Love is dinged. Scarlett is the only RB who has played. Does Shaw sacrifice a year of Speights eligibility to try winning an exhibition game? No way. So right there you see it isn't a real game, and the outcome isn't really all that representative of what Stanford was as a regular season team.
