Geez, what are we going to have next, players deciding midway through the season that they want to enter the NFL draft and sitting out the rest of it?
It certainly lends credibility to the notion that college football players are only there to prepare themselves for professional football.
Not playing in the bowl game does say something about his commitment to the football team itself but not about his motives for choosing Stanford.
Regarding the comment about quitting mid-season, ×ÉÉ Quantrill could have pitched towards the end of last season but had a draft guarantee from SD and chose not to return and risk injury. Given the millions of dollars at stake I can't blame the man given the circumstances.

I wasn't really talking about Christian personally, (Fournette is doing it too, and I'm sure they won't be the last). I was just talking about the notion that players will be leaving their teams whenever they feel it is financially advantageous to do so, regardless of when that occurs. To me anyway, it just makes college football look like the minor leagues for the NFL and I think that is lamentable.
Also, if the game is as meaningless as some people here seems to think it is, one might wonder why we are bothering to play it in the first place.
