OTOH, Last year Jaylon Smith was almost unanimously projected to be a top-5 pick but fell into the second round after his bowl game injury. The first five picks in the 2016 draft received contracts ranging from $23.3 million to $27.9 million; Smith signed for just under $6.5 million. So in his case the injury cost him significantly more.
