I think this is crap, and like many other posters here this takes him off of the pantheon when compared to Toby, Luck, etc in my personal Stanford HOF.

College football fandom certainly has a vicarious aspect to it, and I think the reason this stings a lot of fans is because we wish we had another chance at playing one more game with our buddies, whether that be high school, college, intramural, whatever. To see someone seemingly throw that away for monetary reasons questions the whole basis of our fandom.

I popped a broken and dislocated finger into place to finish a meaningless IM football game against some loser USC frat, and I was applying for surgical residencies! It's a good thing I didn't have an agent telling me how much money I was risking...
