I see this as a natural evolution of the increasing trend of coaches bailing on their teams before bowl games for another job (promotion). Players look at this and say "if they can do it why can't we?"
NCAA probably can't stop a college coach from leaving for the pros (although that RARELY happens since the pro season extends past almost every bowl game), but they can stop coaches from leaving before bowl games for other college jobs. Maybe they should?
