You're certainly entitled to feel that way but the analogy isn't apt.
The inexcusable situation that you experienced is akin to McCaffrey quitting the team this Friday morning and somehow suiting up for North Carolina in the afternoon instead.
A more apt analogy would be your colleague resigning several weeks prior to the big presentation and going to work for a much bigger firm in another part of the country that competes for an entirely different group of clients.
