As I said, revealed preferences. My guess is that if the next guy delivers the wins, it won't matter if the apr slips.

Kelly could do so much better than UCB. So, so much better. There are plenty of Big 12 programs that would love him. There are other Pac-12 programs with bigger budgets and better brands for recruiting. Maybe Kelly couldn't find anything better, so who knows. Kelly's voice is not good for TV or Radio, so he can't just sit in the booth for 12 months while waiting for a top tier college opening.
Recruiting has to fall apart if they don't get a coach in ~5 days, so have to believe UCB either fired for cause or has a very desirable coach coming in.Â
If a very desirable coach, then I give that coach 23 months before going to a better gig. Almost easier for the conference to recruit against a big brand name as that coach will be more valuable than whatever the UCB AD can afford.
