I disagree.  What Differentiated Chip Kelly from Mark Helfrich is that Kelly could field a competent defense.  The Ducks' offense was ok this year, but what doomed them was their utter lack of a defense.

What changed there, though? Helfrich was just a crappy recruiter? He kept Kelly's entire defensive staff, so it doesn't seem like there should've been much change. Would Kelly be able to rebuild that at Cal? Certainly not quickly, they just don't have the guys.
