A few things caught my interest:

After firing Dykes, whose dalliances with Baylor and Houston angered the Bears, athletic director Mike Williams said he wanted a coach who would remain at Cal for the long term.

So they hire a coach who has been at five schools in 10 years.  I realize the life of a coordinator is nomadic, but he's not someone who has restrained himself for jumping at a better opportunity when it presents itself.

He is expected to receive at least $1.5 million annually from the Bears and will likely be the lowest-paid coach in the Pac-12.

What does it say about Cal's commitment to football?

The news was first reported by FoxSports.com’s Bruce Feldman, who broke the story about Cal firing Sonny Dykes last weekend.

Wilner needs to up his game.  He's the college sports beat writer for the local newspaper, and he was scooped twice in the span of a week by Bruce Feldman.  Sad.
