I played college basketball with 3 guys who were walk-ons, 2 of which ended up earning scholarships and starting for two years.  I can think of a few pretty decent pro football players off the top of my head who were college walk-ons (JJ Watt, Clay Matthews, Jordy Nelson, Antonio Brown, Logan Mankins, TJ Ward, Santana Moss, etc.).

All I am saying is sometimes guys can fly under the radar for whatever reasons.  Watt was a tall skinny kid out of HS and look at him now.
