For some time I have found the WR depth chart worrisome, and with the current injuries it would be downright terrifying if it weren't for several Stanford-specific aspects of our offense. [First and foremost that we are unlikely to pass more than 40% of plays, and could possibly get by at 30%. Secondly that we have several TEs who can play as WRs. Third that we have plenty of experience as a team splitting out RBs - though only Love has a career reception (23).]
For the Rice game, we have a WR corps that has Irwin (49 career receptions) plus a couple of guys with 2 total career catches.
Everything may be fine ...
If Stanford doesn't need to pass often and defenses single cover everyone,
If everyone is healthy again very soon,
If our pass game to other positions makes up for the holes,
If it Stewart makes a yuge frosh to soph year jump,
If Wedington and/or St. Brown have a frosh-year impact bigger than any other Stanford WR since ... Richard Sherman (? - last frosh with >30 catches).
Probably need about 2 or 3 of these for a good offense - though the more the better.
