Wade-Perry is there. Would think he has to be the backup to Phillips if Peek isn't available.

Better to get his feet wet against Rice than to replace Hall against USC in the second half for his first ever sustained playing time. ;)

anyone know if this is injury related? or discipline related? I hope the latter and nothing too serious of an infraction that lasts beyond one game.
I would think a banged up player would still travel with the team for the experience. A suspended player would not travel.

I'd think that depends on the injury. I imagine it would be easier to treat the injury at Stanford's facilities. Shaw does seem like the type of coach who would recognize what an amazing opportunity traveling to Sydney is and would do everything he could to allow a banged up player to come, but if the player ultimately will heal faster at home, that might be the dispositive factor.

I wonder if the injury contraindicates a transoceanic flight :( I'm sad for those guys having to stay home...that is not good at all. And I'm sure Shaw would have let them travel if he could have.

Interesting question. The latter might be better than the former for the kid, but could never bring myself to hope for it.

If it was an injury, I think Shaw would come out and say so.
The other option is a family emergency.

Man, I am very curious to learn the reason.
Here's an article with a little bit of information as I do not have access to scout.com

Based on Shaw's no/comment it could be inferred that it's not injury-related.

Michael Rector was suspended for disciplinary reasons during training camp two years ago. Heard that he broke curfew to watch a Taylor Swift concert.
