TO USE BURNS LIKE THIS.  ...  I JUST DON'T LIKE THE CALL. 

Well, it might be worth examining what actually happened on the play in question.

Because of 1) the extra blocker, 2) the threat to pass with an actual QB taking the snap, and 3) that the defenders were easily bowled over - there was a gigantic hole for Burns and he gained 8+ yards in the red zone down to the 1 foot line.

Sometimes, even if something grates and appears to go against all that is right and decent, if it actually works consistently one should reconsider.
Though of course #3 above won't always be true.
