If I was in the lab and had data like we have on our defense from the first four games, I would immediately set up some more experiments. If you plot opponent offensive capability on the horizontal scale (1 to 10), it would seem that you have three data points between 8.5 and 10. Then you have a data point (Rice) at something less than 1.0. I can fit almost any curve to that data. This is especially so given that defense depends on other team parameters (like ball control). ASU's offense should provide us with a useful data point since they are likely between the extremes on offense and may fill in some of the great blank space in the middle.Â
