And Arbuthnott loses the second set 6-2. Come on, Emily!
A little more background on her opponent, and why I was worred about three sets even when Arbuthnott was cruising in the first set. Jokic is a freshman, but she has been lights out this fall. In her run to the Southeast Regional title, she beat 3 Top 25 players, including #11 Estela Perez-Somarriba (Miami), #15 Anna Danilina of Florida (the top seed in this tournament), and #23 Johnisse Renaud (Georgia Tech), in addition to the #8 freshman, Ida Jarlskog of Georgia Tech. In an earlier tournament this fall, she beat Vanderbilt's Fernanda Contreras (who won the ITA All-Americans this fall and seems massively underranked at #63). So, yeah, lights out. Â
