Well somebody (Pritchard? I think Bloomgren is on the sideline isn't he?) is up there telling him that defensive linemen are in the backfield on every first down.
Only coaches I recall coaching from the box were due to health/disability or punishment. Bobby Ross coached from upstairs when he was at Maryland because he grabbed a referee the previous game. Believe it was against UNC. Maryland was an ACC kingpin at the time and they were playing Clemson with a lot on the line. Why I can remember this (c. 1986 and a game I never cared about), but not that job code from this morning, is one of life's great mysteries.
