I had the opportunity to meet Lou Holtz in the mid 90's. . . . in a speech before a few thousand, he mentioned meeting a Stanford grad earlier in the day and noted how important it was for schools like ND and Stanford to require the academics as well as the athletics.

Notre.Dame seems to love to bask in the aura of Stanford's academic reputation and to foster the illusion of academic parity.
