My take: Notre Dame wants to play us every year not so much for even football reasons, but for academic ones. It gives ND a chance to compare their academics and academic standards to ours. That we are a good football team in a region of the country that they try to heavily recruit is an added bonus. As such, I don't think they will be dropping Stanford any time soon.
